I am very interested in the Arts and Crafts movement of the early 20th century,
and particularly in the current dialogue/debate about craft and art. I consider myself a Maker and take pride in handcrafting
all of the components to my pieces.
I appreciate
the unique qualities of both material and form. I like to allow my work to express individuality in each piece within the
context of making repeated objects. I strive for order and repeatability, but love when circumstance or the material changes
the direction of my intentions. The end result often mirrors a natural form that is both organically familiar and natural
in its imperfections.
My inspirations are
the clean and simple lines in Japanese motif and modern architecture, the gentle curve of a leaf, the round cool weight of
a stone, the foreverness of the ocean...
